Our "Stay-cation", Part I - Water Park and Stone Mountain

Instead of taking a week-long beach trip over the summer for our vacation, we opted to stay in town and partake of the numerous activities that the Atlanta area has to offer - - what we've now learned is called a "stay-cation." We decided to scatter the activities over several weeks, so as not to completely exhaust all of us in a matter of days. This way, we slept in our own beds, packed only a day's worth of supplies, and didn't have screaming children with sand in their eyes, mouths, or in other places (if you know what I mean).
Our "stay-cation" began with one last trip to the Lenora Water Park on the Saturday of Labor Day weekend.
After braving several rounds up and down the tube slide by herself, Aubrey was joined by two other little girls who wanted to play with her and help her out of the slide.

Our sweet little Addison enjoys splashing in the water and going down the slides, too.

Addison never fails to get lots of attention from other folks. Here, she is squealing and waving at total strangers.....and they loved it.
On Labor Day, we took another trip to Stone Mountain with our annual pass (http://stonemountainpark.com/).
This time, we toured Stone Mountain's small petting farm.

We toured one of the old plantation houses, the separate kitchen, smokehouse, outhouse, and garden. We stopped at the well and tried to explain it all to Aubrey.
There is an old schoolhouse on the grounds, too.

As we rode the train around the mountain, Addison danced and clapped to the country music that was played.

Our day ended with a picnic lunch by our car (which is much easier than dragging everything to a picnic table). Addison had been getting VERY fussy from having to sit in the stroller most of the day instead of crawling and cruising like she does at home. So, we popped the trunk and cleared out the chairs and other picnic gear so that Addison could safely roam around for a while.
