"Mommy, please stop flashing that camera in my eyes!"
First, the good news:
Addison has been sleeping through the night (10:30/11:00pm until 7:30/8:00am) since she was 7 weeks old -- Hurray!!!! However, Mommy still expresses milk every few hours, so she is not yet getting a full night's sleep or naps. Addison smiles beautifully (with dimples) and occasionally laughs. She coos so adorably. She can reach for toys and hold them for short periods of time. She has very good head control.
She regularly finds her thumb now -- yeah!
Now, the bad news:
After trying two different kinds of reflux medicine to no avail, the pediatrician referred us to a pediatric ENT to investigate her noises and possible reflux (as explained in last month's blog posting). The ENT was able to determine in the office that Addison has a mild case of laryngomalacia ("in which the soft, immature cartilage of the upper larynx collapses inward during inhalation, causing airway obstruction.......and generally resolves spontaneously by the second year of life") and noticeable reflux. Unfortunately, Addison will need additional testing for her noises and to see a pediatric gastrointerologist for the reflux. We'll keep you posted.
